SYDNEY COMEDY FESTIVAL PREVIEW NIGHT. Fri 19 March 2010 The Preview Night was full of surprises; from the sabotage of the Festival Director’s opening speech, to the surprise hits of the night. New comics Umit Bali, Rhys Nicholson and RAW comedy winner Michael Workman were all stand-outs, as were the potty mouthed smutty cast of Princess Cabaret! Australia’s favourite son of TV comedy Tom Gleeson put in a rocketing set, with Australia’s favourite long lost son Steve Hughes re-affirming that he is simply one of the finest stand-ups in this country. Ireland’s Dead Cat Bounce were also a big hit in their Sydney debut, especially with the ladies it seems who swooned at the tight-panted musical comedy super-group! Cameron Knight was the perfect charming host of the night and weaved the night together with magical threads of comedy. The essence of preview night is to get a taste of the festival to come. If you weren’t there, fear not…! We have similar gala like shows featured in our line-up of shows this year. You can see Comedy Festival Showcases throughout the festival at Parade Theatres, The Lair at Virgin Mobile Metro Theatre, and The Comedy Store. These bargain priced tickets are the best way to get a taster of the festival when you’re unsure of whose shows to go and see. Go discover your new favourite acts!
